Dad yells "Go" and we hit the ground running. Sand spurting from my feet everywhere I go. "Faster!" Dad yells, he's almost screaming at me. My heart is like a hammer pounding a big hole in my chest. Up ahead I see my sister Te Marama running, crossing the road and even as I know I am crossing the road myself . I am on the other side of the road now, Ellezae is ahead of me as well. I drop my jandles I turn and grab them. "Don't look back Te Aroha" Dad yells, Of course I look back what else do I do? Am I ahead? Dad can't believe his eyes but I'm still running. The surface changes beneath my feet, Grass, Rock to Sand. I see a wall of green ahead of me, I race up to it. I am now climbing, Up,Up,Up I see other runners running, I pass most of them but not all. I can even recognize some people from school, Neighbors even Teachers. I look ahead of me bushes the colors of moss. I am now running through the bush, Brunches hitting my face leaving scars, But I have to keep on going I do. The wind harshly changes from Soft to Breezy then to Stormy. Mum catches up to me and we both start running. We have now made it to a slope and we run up it. It leads to a Hill and we also run up to it. Everything felt safe and calm and peaceful. Or as it seems... |
